Ok, I just thought I would throw something out there for everyone to discuss.....we gotta get this board off the ground =)
What does everyone feed their cavies? Do you feed fresh veggies on a daily basis? Do you use supplements? What type of hay do you use?
I feed King and Templeton brand feed mixed I switch off daily for either veggies or hay and at the moment I am feeding Orchard Grass. I do use Calf Manna and Sweet Feed

I feed Cavylets - buy them by the ton and have them trucked in from Indiana. The shipping cost is astronomical, but the feed is reasonable, so I end up paying per pound about what I'd pay for Mazuri, which would be my second choice.
I feed hay cubes or Orchard grass on a semi - regular basis.
I feed veggie several times a week, my favorite (and the pigs, too) are dandelion greens. Carrots occasionally, parsley, cilantro or kale for variety.

We feed King. Seems to make everyone happy. We feed fresh veggies, daily. We have a graden so we have plenty for now. They REALLY like the cucumbers. Don't really care for squash. In the winter we feed more oranges and parsliy. Change it up with apples, spinich and some mustard greens. Baby carrots, they might get once a week.

KLC Guinea Pigs here.... I feed Lab Diet timothy based pellets. I really like them and they are resonably priced. We also give a couple other supplements/additives on a regular basis. Our pigs get fresh veggies (of all kinds, but mostly romaine lettuce) several times a week. I've found that veggies every day = chubby pigs. We also feed timothy hay on a weekly basis, and alfalfa to our preggo/nursing sows. I also give my MOTHER CAVY MIX to those sows as well. If you would like to try some, I am now offering it for sale to the public!!! Contact me for more info or see the supplement section on this website. www.klcguineapigs.comklcguineapigs@hotmail.com

I use Mazuri cavy feed.
YES, everyone gets veggies on a daily basis. I've found veggies work great, better than pellets at times, since cavies can live perfectly healthy with a veggy & hay diet, without pellets. Haven't had problems with cavies get too overweight on veggies, it's usually pellets that causes that problem.
Yes. We use Calf Manna, and Omolene 300 (aka: sweet feed), and sometimes some Oats.
We use either Timothy hay or Orchard grass. Loose hay since hay cubes are no fun for the pigs.

I feed a mix of Mazuri and an 18% rabbit feed that has vit C in it. I give veggies almost daily, mostly cilantro, carrots and bell pepper, plus whatevet else is in season for variety. I give orchard grass on a regular basis. I try to keep the hay in at all times because the pigs tend to eat less pellets if hay is available.
