Do you just give your pregnant sows vegetables? Or do you add more vitamin c to her diet in a different way?

All my animals get fresh veggies everyday and I add Vit C crystals to the water all the time.

All of mine just get fresh veggies on a regular basis. I was just curious as to see what others did to provide vitamin c.

I give greens and occasional carrots as treats, but wouldn't depend on them for Vit C on a daily basis - I put a very low dose of C in their water.
I also feed a cavy formula pellet, which does have Vit C in it. I used to rely on the pellets exclusively for Vit C, but after one disastrous winter, where I lost 14 animals over 4 months to a random series of illnesses, pregnancy mishaps, etc., I started with the additional C. Haven't had anything like that happen again.
Was it a C deficiency that caused the problems? I don't know. Do the pellets provide the minimum daily requirement of C for a cavy? Probably. So why do I do it?
Because I figure the formulation in the pellets is a maintenance dose. My animals are under a bit more stress than the average pet - they come and go to shows (or live with cavies that do.) I have 4H kids come in and play with my animals on a routine basis. My animals are usually either in breeding, raising a litter or resting before going back into a breeding cycle. I think the extra C just gives them that edge of resistance to the extra challenges to their immune systems.
I do have to be careful to tell buyers what I've been doing, so if they choose to not give the extra C, they can wean them off of it slowly.

Mine get veggies daily, and I don't bother to put Vitamin C in the water. I one time used rabbit pellets, but I just hated always putting Vitamin C in the water, and went back to the good ol' Mazuri. Haven't had any Vitamin C problems yet, and I don't add any extra Vitamin C to water or veggies. Just as long as the pigs get their veggies they are happy... *laughs^... My pigs always want veggies, I have fear that they'll be driving a little remote control car and going to Sam's Club and Costco (which are VERY close by!) and be invading the veggie and fruit section! Storm would be all over the fruits eating them like crazy, Casper would be in the Basil threatening anyone who comes near *his* Basil, and the other pigs would go doghole over the other veggies! That's funny to think about, but off topic. Sorry about that.

Also needed to add, ALL my pigs get veggies daily, though preggos and litters get more veggies.
