I had a sow in with what I thought was a sterile boar. My daughter thought she might be pregnant so I checked her and found she was expecting. I had planned this breeding, but I gave up on the boar after two other sows failed to get pregnant. Two days after I checked the sow, she delivered a first litter of two healthy babies at the age of sixteen months.
I have had people in other countries say they routinely breed for the first time at 14 months with no problems. All the books say 7 months. Are the books wrong?

That's weird other countries say 14 for the first time! Personally I like to breed sows between the ages 4-6 months, and 7 the max. Haven't had any birthing difficulties yet, but all the sows that had litters were under 7 months.
