Just wondering what everyone uses to treat mites? I know some prefer Revolution and others prefer to use the liquid or paste ivermectin, and yet others use Adams to spray their pigs down.
I personally have found that the liquid injectable ivermectin works very well if used topically. I use it just like revolution, a drop behind the ears, and my herd has been mite free. It also seems to be more cost efficent. Anybody else use the injectable kind of ivermectin topically?

I used to use the paste ivermectin, but I now use Revolution. It is supposed to kill internal and external parasites plus the eggs, so there is no need for multiple treatments.
For the injectible ivermectin, do you need to mix it with anything or straight from the bottle?

I just use the injectible straight from the bottle. You do have to purchase a syringe with a needle to get it out of the bottle, but then I just drop, drops from the syringe with the needle still attached...( I found this to be the easiest way, and less mess), directly behind the ears. I have also read on other boards that you can place the solution directly on spots that you see mite infestations. I have never had to do this, as I make sure I treat my pigs at least every other month.

do you have a large livestock (one for horses, cattle etc) feed store in your town? If so they should have the ivermectin for cattle or sheep, it usually runs about $35 for a bottle.
